Seems like a long year...

Started off with semester 2 of MUFY with an imba timetable. Classes from 8.30am - 1.30pm except Fridays (8.30am - 9.45am). I had to stay in Casa Subang and eat dinner @ Summit almost every weekday. The batch of JPA scholars after mine are now staying in Sunway Monash Residence. How unfair =( Study life was much easier as I dropped Computer Science in sem2. My favourite subject which pulled up my grades (perfect internal score) but I needed more space and time. Not long after sem2 commenced, it all started...

Team Legion xD

IRIS ONLINE! The first time after two years (since I quit JX2) for me to be so passionate about an online game. I spent ~~140%~~ 70% of my time in the hostel playing this MMORPG. Revision? Only 15-30 minutes the very night before internal assessments.

MUFY sem2 subjetcs:

Physics - My fav subject! I'll remember Mr Chan for "Ok, no more time already. See you tomorrow..."

Math - Ms Roslin with sequence, series & statistics. Y U NO interesting?

Adv Math - Ms Tan! Integrate ALL the way~

English - Mr Mustapha and his epic lectures. Justice vs Injustice. Fun but meaningless at times.

...and finally completed my foundation!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting 90+ average considering the amount of time spent in front of the pc. I realised it could have been much better if I didn't touch Iris. Yet, no regrets. Come to think of it, I would have a whole lot of things to worry & complain about if I didn't ~~work~~ play Iris.

June - One week in Penang. Stayed in cousin's house. Pretty much explored the whole state.

July - Uni just about to start. Engineering @ Monash. New things for a new life. New clothes, new bag, new specs, new earphones, etc.

And so my journey to become a professional engineer begins...

1st year is a common year for all engineering students. Specialisation into respective disciplines in year 2. July 2011 intake was quite small. Only 200+ if memory serves me right. As expected, guys dominate this field! Adapting to the new environment wasn't that tough. The system here in Monash is somewhat similar to MUFY. Different classes = different faces. 4 subjects of 5-6 hours each, total 22 hours per week.

Year 1 sem1 subjects:

Engineering Dynamics - Reminds me of the mechanics part I enjoyed back then during Further Math (A Levels). Lecturer & tutor : Mr Alpha. C00l name but he will be leaving Monash in 2012. The best part about this subject is probably the online lectures! Not that I'm encouraging this, but you can skip lectures and view them online (from Clayton).

Engineering Profession - TOTALLY not related to engineering. Don't be fooled by the subject name. Internal assessment carries 70%! High distinction or fail depends on your group's performance. Mr Mathew warned us from the very beginning that not many will get HD for this subject. To ace this subject, you either need a good team OR a pro senior to loan you his/her HD report.

Mathematics for Engineering - Mr Yoong seems like a busy man, but his notes are very tidy. The subject itself is rather difficult (as compared to MUFY). I normally don't understand much until I actually apply and attempt the problem sets. Past year questions helped me a lot. No doubt that practice makes perfect.

Physics for Engineering - My favourite subject, partly because of the lecturer. Dr Lan is probably one of the most enthusiastic teacher I've ever met. No notes/lecture slides are provided for this subject. I admire him for that fact that he actually writes on the board, unlike other subjects (just PowerPoint). It is then up to the students if they want to copy or just slack off. By the way, there are MANY lab projects in this subject.

Overall, it has been quite a busy semester for me. The workload is almost 10x more than MUFY. I haven't got the time to join a club. No CCA or whatsoever till 2012 at least. Most of the time, I will be hiding in one of the discussion rooms with kai dai & kai mui. Skipped dinner every now and then. Being a leader for 2 different subject groups added more stress. >< There's always a report, quiz, or project due the following week. Occupied from week 1 till 13. Missed countless of good movies. Somehow, weekends felt like weekdays too.

In just 13 weeks, I've met many new friends. Fun, lazy, social, hypocrite, caring, spoilt, etc. Only a handful are striving their best while the majority are just aiming for a pass or credit. At the end of the day, academic isn't all that matters.

11.11.11 - Marked the end of sem1. Physics was the last (and worst) paper. My cousin & close friends surprised me on that special day too.

9 days away but I do appreciate it!

Summer break is suupppeer boooooring. My sis introduced me to Rift Online, a pay to play MMORPG (USD$15/month). The graphics are really awesome and has lots of content. The game is great but it doesn't feel as exciting as Iris/JX2. I'm more of a casual gamer now, maybe 1-2 hours daily. Recently, I started paying for apps. Not going to wait for JB. Ever since I got my iP4S and iPad2, I've thrown in about USD$100 buying two GPS, Wiki and games. Maybe I won't enter the JB zone at all~

December - Results released and I'm happy with my perfect GPA. Visited uncle in SG. 4 days of shopping! Read the most disgusting comic of the year @ http://9gag.com/gag/938753

2011 was a wake-up call for me.
